epiphany

Noun: manifestation of a divine being
a sudden intuitive leap of understanding especially through an ordinary but striking occurrence

Gorgeously backlit, the morning clouds, steeped pinkish gold, shadowed dove grey.
A lady with a pastel coat shouts as she passes on the park pathway. 'Blows the cobwebs!' Her dog bounces by. He has a rubber ball in his mouth. Her hair is a silver shade.

Storm swells makes the news. Pictures of breaking waves, air bourn water; think of lace, of ghosts, of elemental energies, listening to the howl outside while the decorations are stripped down: a sense of rediscovery in the bared spaces.

Wind sweeps the car park where people clutch onto shopping. Faces are bored, inconvenienced: or pleased to have secured a favoured flavour, a bargain, the satisfaction of having remembered they were low on milk. Above the scene a band of moon in the sky, tucked in darkness like a ring in a jeweller's box; think of offer, promise, adventure for the journey.
Without renewal, atrophy: theophany daily in the sky.

I find what I am looking for: my manifest icon. She's on Pinterest, riding a dragon.

Guan Shi Yin, bodhisattva:
one who attains enlightenment but chooses to remain on earth to help others.

  1. As I thought, into the past and future, Dragon is indeed underway.

(still not sure how to do a link in a comment box)
That is a fine summation of my beloved dragon!
Last night the wind woke me up, it was making some big and original sounds, I thought a whole collective of dragons was flying over the house: then I thought maybe this was becoming an obsession, but it's more of a muse than a mind-tangler and if it reaches out (waving) to other people too, it must be good. Phew! xx

  5. I didn't think I was going to be able to get my comment in. Blogger is very buggy this morning and I, actually, am feeling a bit incapable of articulation. I have, however, read this. Much happening inside in response only, this morning it seems, words fail me.

Reaching out to you in truth. Appreciate very much who you are.

  6. Buggy is a fun word even though the truth of it is annoying.
I appreciate your perseverance and company: I quoted you on Geo's Invalid Workshop today: 'inspiration is the greatest form of camaraderie.'
I reach back, and my dragon gives a friendly wave :-)
